Executive Nurse Leader | Advocate for Rural Healthcare | Champion of Safety, Quality & Stewardship
With over 17 years in executive nursing leadership and more than 37 years in healthcare, Dr. Shannon Holland brings a wealth of experience, integrity, and strategic vision to every organization she serves. Currently leading as Interim Chief Nursing Officer at Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), Shannon is a proven expert in driving operational excellence across rural and critical access hospitals, large regional clinics, and health systems.
Shannon earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Leadership from National University, with earlier degrees from Gonzaga University and Montana State University–Northern. She holds dual certifications as a Certified Executive in Nursing Practice (CENP) and Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)—credentials that reflect her lifelong dedication to advancing nursing practice and improving patient outcomes.
Across her leadership roles—including Chief Nursing Officer positions in Alaska, Washington, and Montana—Shannon has been entrusted with oversight of patient care services, professional nursing practice, and hospital operations. Her leadership philosophy is grounded in three pillars: safety, quality, and stewardship. Whether achieving Magnet status, leading successful union negotiations, or advancing trauma and stroke certifications, she consistently delivers results through evidence-based strategy and authentic, collaborative leadership.
A native of Montana, Shannon is especially passionate about improving healthcare access and quality in rural communities. She has served as a voice for nursing leadership through advisory councils, speaking engagements, and professional development, including ongoing participation in AONE/AONL and Magnet conferences.
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys hiking, skiing, and exploring the outdoors with her husband of 39 years and their three Labrador retrievers. Together, they’ve raised two children and continue to call Montana home.
